Army COOL: Army Credentialing Opportunities On-Line

If you are Active Duty Army, Army Reserve or National Guard personnel, you may be eligible for up to $2,000 of financial assistance from the Army Credentialing Assistance Program. Part of the Army Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (COOL) service, this program is designed to provide assistance in earning certifications and licenses to help augment your skills in the Army, prepare for advancement opportunities, as well as help transition into civilian careers. The Details:

Amount: Up to $4500 available for combined use of Education Benefits through Tuition Assistance (TA) and CA funds. The CA funds are capped at $2000 per fiscal year. The amount renews each fiscal year (FY) and you can use TA and CA individually or simultaneously as long as you don’t exceed the $2,000 budget for CA.” and the last section should say total of 4500 with that same disclaimer that only 2k can be used for CA
What Can Funds be used for?: Payment of credentialing expenses for classroom, hands-on, online/blended training, study guides, materials, textbooks, fees, exams, and/or recertification of credentials.
Who is is eligible?: Army, Active Guard/Reserve (AGR) pursuant to Title 10 & Title 32, U.S. Army Reserve, Army National Guard in active drilling status with a designation as satisfactory, Ranks include enlisted, warrant officers, officers
What Schools Qualify: Civilian credentials and licenses through approved credentialing agencies. MedCerts is an approved school.
Who Funds it?: The Department of Army through the Department of Defense
Who is NOT eligible?: Veterans, Non-Army Branches, Army Families if you’ve exceeded (3) credentials earned within 10 years of service

Tuition Assistance and Credentialing Assistance are funded through the same pool of money. Service members are offered a total of $2,000 each fiscal year to use towards Credentialing Assistance and Tuition Assistance. If you choose to use both TA and CA in a fiscal year, you cannot exceed the $2,000 total.Â
