2. $4,000 in Tax-Free Funding
Not all scholarships are tax-free. For instance, some grants and scholarships for teaching, research, travel or incidentals must be included as income on your tax return. The MyCAA scholarship, however, only provides funding for approved programs and courses. The money can’t be used for living expenses, books, or other fees.
That means MyCAA benefits are a non-taxable scholarship. You can access $2,000 per fiscal year tax-free, up to $4,000, and receive the funds after your training plan is approved, up to one day before your courses start.
3. Available for Three Years
Additionally, the MyCAA scholarship has a three-year time frame, so you have extra time if you need it. If you keep track of the fiscal year and your course start dates, you can organize your courses to stretch your funds over three years if necessary. For instance, you might request $500 at the end of the first fiscal year, $2,000 at the start of the second year, and use the remaining $1,500 in the third year.
With those time allowances, you can move quickly through your courses. Or you can spread them out to learn and earn around your schedule, family, daily responsibilities and even relocations. The extra time gives you flexibility to study at your own pace.
4. A New, High-Paying Career
The MyCAA scholarship is available for programs that lead to a license, certification or associate’s degree. The funds help you access training for a high-value and portable career where you develop skills you can take when you pack up and move.
