Grants for EKG Training: How to Fund Your Healthcare Career

Many people want a stable career but worry about the cost of education. Why not focus on allied health roles? Healthcare can be a great fit, and many careers only require short training. One of those options is EKG Technician training, which you can complete in as little as 12 weeks with MedCerts.

It’s also affordable, especially when you use grants or multiple funding options. You might not even realize you may qualify. Here are the most common types of funding and grants for EKG training to help you start your healthcare career with confidence.

1. Workforce Grants and Training Funds

Getting trained comes with expenses. That’s why workforce grants and training funds can be the support you need. Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding supports many people with barriers to employment, including:

  • Low-income individuals
  • People who were laid off or dislocated due to closures
  • Individuals who lost their primary household income
  • Caregivers returning to the workforce

MedCerts proudly partners with American Job Centers in 30+ states as an approved school. Through your local job center, you may be able to get most or all of your EKG Technician costs covered if you qualify.

2. MyCAA Funding for Military Spouses

If you’re a military spouse and meet the qualifications, you can fund your EKG Technician training through the Department of Defense’s My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA). This military funding gives you up to $2,000 per fiscal year toward your training, with a total cap of $4,000.

MedCerts’ EKG Technician program is one of many MyCAA-approved programs. This means you can get most or all of your CET certification training covered with MyCAA funding.

3. Army Credentialing Assistance, Air Force COOL and Coast Guard COOL Funding

MedCerts also helps active-duty service members fund their training through the Army Credentialing Assistance (CA)AF COOL and Coast Guard COOL programs. Your CET training could be fully funded as part of your military benefits — especially valuable if you’ll soon be transitioning to post-military life. To check your eligibility and any funding caps, reach out to your branch.

4. State and Local Healthcare Training Grants

Other funding options are more state-specific. Many states pay for training grants during workforce shortages, helping you fund your training for in-demand roles like EKG technicians. You can check workforce job boards or community programs for regional employer grants, local upskilling funds or allied healthcare workforce grants.

Depending on the total funds, these training grants may cover all or part of your MedCerts program costs.

6. How MedCerts Supports Students With Funding and Payment Options
