How Do I Apply for a MyCAA Scholarship?

Talk to a MyCAA Education Consultant Today

You sacrifice a lot to help your spouse serve their country, and the My Career Advancement Account scholarship program is there to pay you back by funding your education. At MyCAA schools like MedCerts, you can qualify for an in-demand career and help support your family, often at no cost.

Of course, nothing involving the military is simple. Don’t worry—we’ve got your back. Here’s your step-by-step guide to applying for your MyCAA scholarship and jump-starting your new career.

Step 1: Choose your course

MedCerts offers high-quality online training in the healthcare and IT fields. Courses include:

These are only some of the courses we have available. Work with patients, in a lab, among wires and monitors… the choice is yours. We just want you to succeed.

Every program is available online at your convenience—anywhere you have high-speed internet. All of your textbooks, video instruction modules, and course requirements are located in the cloud, so no matter where you and your family are, you can keep working toward your new career.

If you’re interested in earning more than one credential, we offer programs where you can gain the skills and knowledge to earn several certifications. For example, at MedCerts, there are three online Medical Assistant programs where you can earn up to three certifications – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) and Certified EKG Technician (CET).

Step 2: Check your eligibility

You qualify to receive MyCAA funding—and possibly a no-cost education—if your spouse is:

  • A service member on active duty or in the National Guard or Reserve Components, AND
  • Working within pay Grades E-1 to E-5, W-1 to W-2, or O-1 to O-2, AND
  • Operating under Title 10 military orders

If you’re still unsure whether you’re eligible, that’s okay. Check our eligibility chart or click “Chat with Us” on our webpage and ask one of our MedCerts representatives about whether you qualify.

You can also find information on the MyCAA Fact Sheet, published by the Department of Defense Spouse Education and Career Opportunities Program.

Step 3: Register for MyCAA

The My Career Advancement Account Scholarship Program walks you through how to create an account. You’ll start by creating a Department of Defense Self-Service Logon—unless you already have one, in which case you’ll need that information to get started with MyCAA.

Step 4: Create an Education and Training Plan

Submit your information to MedCerts and one of our Education Consultants will get in touch with you. You’ll tell your consultant about your career interests and your family’s needs, and they’ll help you to create an Education and Training Plan. (MyCAA requires you to have a plan.)

Once you have your plan in place, send it to a MyCAA Career and Education Consultant for approval.

Step 5: Enroll in a course

MedCerts’ MyCAA-approved programs take as little as 12 weeks to complete, putting you on the fast track to employment. We even provide you with job placement assistance, putting you in touch with staffing agencies and top employers located where you are.

Your Career Is Waiting

MyCAA offers up to $4,000 in financial assistance, in $2,000 increments per fiscal year. That means that you could complete a MedCerts course and be ready for a new job with nothing paid out of your own pocket. Visit us to find out more and kickstart your new career today.
