How MedCerts Promotes Workforce Development through Career Training

There’s a serious skills gap in the United States, and there has been for some time. Almost 40% of employers have said that they can’t find people with the right skills, while 60% say that their entry-level hires aren’t prepared. That means there’s a whole cohort of people out there who are disconnected from the workforce, needing opportunities but not knowing how to get them.

At MedCerts, students find those opportunities. As part of our career-focused online learning model, we provide individualized support and job search assistance to students in the WIOA program and beyond.

High-Quality, Immersive Training

MedCerts offers fully online, interactive classroom learning to prepare students for in-demand careers. Each learning module follows the four-phase instructional cycle of activation, demonstration, application and integration, allowing the student to fully immerse themselves in the material.

In MedCerts’ virtual simulated environments, we use the same gamification technology used to create the video game Fortnite. This technology lets students practice their newly learned skills in a way that’s engaging, realistic and fun.

Career Certifications

Career certifications are important elements of the workforce development process. It’s objective evidence that a candidate has the skills they need to succeed on the job, even if they’re applying from out-of-state. This verification is particularly important in fields like healthcare and IT, where skill requirements are consistent but training can vary.

MedCerts offers more than 35 individual certifications in healthcare, IT and professional development. Each is nationally recognized so that no matter where a student applies, their prospective employers can trust that they’re prepared for work.

A Nationwide Network

MedCerts has students across the United States, training for a variety of in-demand jobs. Plus we’re on the Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL) in 30 states.

We have connections with highly respected hospitals, pharmacies and more, including major employers like CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, DaVita and the American Red Cross. Through these connections, we match well-prepared students with great employers that need staff.

One-On-One Mentorship and Support

Our students receive customized guidance throughout their career training journey. The process starts with a one-on-one appointment with a MedCerts Education Consultant, who works with the prospective student to develop a customized learning plan.

Then, a Student Support Specialist guides the student through an orientation to familiarize them with the program and MedCerts’s Learning Management System, which includes all the material they need. Student Support and Subject Matter Specialists are available throughout the program. If the student needs to do a field placement, Career Coaches help find experiential learning opportunities.

Learners can also count on Student Support Specialists to provide exam prep and registration assistance. After certification, Career Services steps back in to help the student find a job with resume and interview prep.

All of this support has one primary goal — to eliminate barriers to students’ career success.
