The demand for information security professionals has steadily increased as life becomes more and more digital. Information security isn’t just a booming field ā€” it’s a demanding one. High-level information security professionals must familiarize themselves with every stage of the information security process, from deciding on a security posture for an organization, to building, executing, and maintaining a comprehensive security plan. That’s exactly the skillset of a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

To meet the increased demand for cybersecurity experts, trusted IT certification mainstay MedCerts has launched its CISSP program. The program encompasses everything you need to know to pass the (ISC)Ā² certification exam and start working as a senior specialist, manager, director, senior manager, or executive in the IT field.

Become Indispensable

The CISSP is the most valuable credential in the data security field. The MedCerts CISSP certification training program equips students with administrative and technical skills applicable in managing and designing an organization’s security posture, as well as a comprehensive understanding of international data security standards.

Many organizations and governments require that data security teams include at least one CISSP. One of the most common roles to require this certification is Information Security Analyst. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts 16,300 new openings for Information Security Analysts, on average, each year for the next ten years ā€” and that’s just for companies based in the United States. The increased commonality of remote work and the global boom in digital enterprise foretells even greater opportunity abroad for CISSPs.

(ISC)Ā² Common Body Knowledge and Certification

The (ISC)Ā² is a globally recognized nonprofit organization focused on refining practices within the information security field. The MedCerts CISSP certification provides in-depth coverage of eight different domains within the CISSP common body knowledge (CBK) as defined by the (ISC)Ā²:

  • Security and Risk Management

  • Asset Security

  • Security Architecture and Engineering

  • Communication and Network Security

  • Identity and Access Management

  • Security Assessment and Testing

  • Security Operations

  • Software Development Security

Graduates who receive their certification will also become (ISC)Ā² members, gaining access to exclusive educational tools, resources, and peer-to-peer networking opportunities. MedCerts covers the cost of this exam for all students who complete the CISSP certification course (the test otherwise costs $749).

How to Make It Happen

The MedCerts CISSP course runs for four weeks, totaling 64 hours, and tuition is $3,000. Applicants must be 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED and three years of paid, work experience in the field of IT security. (ISC)Ā² only awards certifications to those who pass the exam and have five years of full-time paid experience as an IT security professional.

One year of this requirement can be waived for those with a four-year college degree or regional equivalent. An additional year may be waived for those MedCerts students who have previously earned their CYSA+, PenTest+, Security+ or CCNA certification. However, students who pass the test have a six-year window following completion of the exam in which they may acquire the relevant experience and still receive certification.
