What Is the Employment Readiness Program? What to Know

Talk to an Army C.A. Education Consultant Today

The Army Community Service centers run the Employment Readiness Program, or ERP, providing job support to soldiers, military spouses and family members. The goal of the program is to help you find information about careers, job opportunities, education, training and funding to land your dream job.

Benefits of the Employment Readiness Program

Settling into a new job or career during a transition can be challenging. The ERP provides career counseling, job search support and access to job banks, all at no charge.

Career counseling

The ERP provides career counseling services, helping you identify employment or careers that match your skills, interests and abilities. Additionally, counselors help strengthen your job skills through a series of workshops on:

  • Resume writing

  • Networking

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Career exploration and planning

  • Interviewing

Job search support

ERP counselors are a resource for information and help in your job search. Counselors stay on top of job market trends and employment opportunities, job fairs and hiring events and help you identify booming industries expected to grow long-term.

Job bank access

The ERP provides access to virtual career libraries, agency job banks and Internet job boards. You can search through listings and find new vacancies and opportunities within federal, state and local agencies. Once you find a position youā€™re interested in, ERP counselors will help you fill out the job application, update your resume and write a cover letter for submission.

MedCerts and the Employment Readiness Program

The ERP is a valuable initiative that helps active-duty members, military spouses and family members find career resources. One such career resource is MedCerts, a military spouse-approved online certification provider.

In-demand training

If it’s time to re-license in a new industry, the ERP and its counselors can help you identify in-demand careers and education grants. However, it isnā€™t an educational institution. MedCerts, on the other hand, provides high-value certifications in medical and informational technology industries and is an approved vendor for the MyCAA (My Career Advancement Account) military spouse grant.

Learn in-demand skills through flexible and fully online formats using cutting-edge technology, such as:

  • Video learning

  • 2D or 3D animations

  • Game-based learning

  • Augmented reality

Most programs are short, lasting from three to six months, and designed to keep you engaged in your training.

One-on-one mentorship

Mentorship and support are vital to educational and career success. Training at MedCerts comes with one-on-one mentorship from an enrollment counselor and a student advisor. Connect with student support team members via phone, text, email or internet chat for help with course content, to discuss key concepts or to stay on track.

Job placement support

MedCerts career coaches and employer relations coordinators offer job search help through the MedCerts Career Center. Find job postings and prep tools for job applications and interviews. Work directly with a Career Coach for help with job searches or resume writing.

Prepare for a New Career With MedCerts

Sometimes employment readiness means transitioning to a new career. MedCerts offers short-term training so you can quickly earn new credentials and accelerate your profession ā€“ at no cost if you qualify for the MyCAA grant. Find meaningful support and advice from expert career coaches and connect with top employers through the MedCerts employer network.
