EKG Technician Certification Training
Start your path to a career in the medical field as an EKG Tech. Electrocardiograph (EKG or ECG) technicians perform diagnostic tests to aid doctors in identifying and treating cardiovascular problems in patients. The US Department of Labor and Burning Glass Technologies predicts an increase of 10-17% over the next eight years. Upon completion of this program, students wishing to sit for the Certified EKG Technician exam will be required to complete a minimum of 10 EKGs on a live person. MedCerts will assist students in searching for these Experiential Learning opportunities. Upon completion of the EKG Tech program, we will work with students to find a site to assist in completing the hands-on requirements to become certified.

What does an EKG Technician do?
EKG technicians generally work in busy healthcare settings. They work in hospitals, outpatient centers, doctors’ offices, and labs. EKG technician duties may include: scheduling patient appointments, running EKGs (electrocardiograms) and stress tests, prepping patients for Holter or ambulatory monitoring, editing and delivering test results to physicians, transcribing doctors’ notes, and much more. As an EKG technician, you can expect to be on your feet for most of the day as you bring patients from the waiting room to their testing rooms. EKG technicians also may need to offer extra hands-on assistance to the frail and elderly who come in for EKGs.
