MedCerts is launching an exciting new program that will prepare you to become a certified nutritional coach and personal trainer. If you're passionate about health and wellness, this could be a perfect opportunity for you to start a rewarding career in the healthcare industry.

Why Combine Nutrition Coaching and Personal Training?

This personal trainer and nutrition coach course will allow you to reach a wider audience with a holistic health and fitness skill set. You'll be able to fully address your clients' fitness and nutritional needs, which are often related.

What Is a Nutrition Coach?

A nutrition coach works with clients to help them adopt healthy eating behaviors and empower them to take responsibility for their health. Nutrition coaches use their knowledge of nutritional science and behavioral change strategies to guide their clients toward a healthier lifestyle.

What Is a Personal Trainer?

A personal trainer works with clients to evaluate their current fitness level and personal goals. They develop customized exercise plans to help their clients achieve their fitness goals.

The NASM Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach Program

MedCerts' new program will prepare you for a dual certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Certified Nutrition Coach (CNC). These dual certifications will give you a competitive edge over other job applicants and boost your income potential.

The complete program consists of four core courses, including:

Professionalism in Allied Health

This 32-hour course will equip you with the soft skills you need to demonstrate professionalism on the job. You'll build and improve your interpersonal skills and learn more about patient interaction, office behavior, medical ethics, emotional strength, professional appearance, and communication.

Introduction to Human Anatomy and Medical Terminology

In this 96-hour course, you'll learn the structure and function of the 11 body systems and their organs as well as the language used to discuss them. You'll get the working knowledge of medicine that's required in many aspects of the medical industry. This course will also cover the major diseases and conditions of the human body and teach you to apply your knowledge in the healthcare setting.

NASM’s Essentials of Personal Fitness Training

The foundation of this 96-hour personal trainer course is the Optimum Performance Training Model, which will teach you a systematic approach to developing personalized training plans for your clients to help them reach their fitness goals. Because lasting change requires more than just an exercise plan, this course will also teach you about behavior change strategies and the psychology of exercise.

NASM’s Essentials of Nutrition Coaching

Finally, you'll learn about nutrition science, behavior change strategies, and nutrition coaching strategies in this 64-hour nutrition coach course. When you finish, you'll be able to apply the latest and most up-to-date information to all types of diets, including vegan and vegetarian. You won't be limited to a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, you'll work closely with your clients to develop a personalized approach to a healthy diet.

Next Steps in Nutrition Coaching and Personal Training

If you're interested in starting a successful career in the fitness and nutrition industry, you can earn your CPT and CNC credentials in only 18 weeks. MedCerts' new program is open to applicants over age 18 who have a high school diploma or GED. You'll also need to get and maintain Adult CPR and AED certifications before taking the CPT exam.
