A career as a medical assistant is an attractive choice for military spouses seeking a flexible and rewarding job. Medical assistants can find work in clinical or administrative roles and are trained in a range of high-demand skills.
Did you know that as the spouse of an active duty service member, you’re eligible to receive up to $4,000 in financial assistance through the Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) program? If you’re considering a career as a medical assistant, MyCAA may be the ticket to cost-free and fast online medical assistant training.
If you’re considering a career as a medical assistant, you’re likely interested in being in a medical setting and helping others. But there are some other common traits that are important to have as a medical assistant:
MyCAA helps military spouses pursue new careers by giving education funding for certificates, licenses or associate degrees. The program offers funding in several different high-demand and high-growth fields like healthcare and information technology. The MyCAA scholarship was established by the Department of Defense (DOD) and pays for training courses, licensing, and certification fees for hundreds of participating programs. The program is open to spouses of service members with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
The healthcare industry is growing fast and there is a strong need for medical assistants. In fact, employment opportunities are expected to increase as much as 23% over the next decade. This makes medical assistant training well-suited to MyCAA benefits, as it is a recognized and approved high-demand field.
With MyCAA benefits, you can also expect to receive your medical assistant training at little to no cost. MedCert’s program, for example, costs just $4,000 (compared to over $10,000 at most community colleges) and prepares you for both on-the-job training and required certification exams:
The program takes just 27 weeks to complete, and with salaries ranging from $24,000-$46,000, you’ll be on the fast track to starting a highly-skilled, rewarding career.
The MedCerts Medical Assistant Program is fully online, which makes it a convenient choice for military spouses who need the flexibility of a portable training program. Students have access to video-led training, one-on-one mentorship and training materials, and can work from home—wherever home might be.
MedCerts offers 24 healthcare programs, all of which are MyCAA approved. We not only help our students secure MyCAA funding, but also offer guidance on resume creation and finding a job.
