Certified Clinical Medical Assistants are multi-skilled allied healthcare professionals who assist physicians and may administer medications, assist with minor procedures, record vital signs, take medical histories, prepare patients and rooms for examinations, provide patient education, and more. Today's Medical Assistants are expected to take on additional responsibilities as well – chief among them related to and around the practices of Phlebotomy and Electrocardiography (ECG/EKG).
The MedCerts online Clinical Medical Professional program prepares students to gain industry certification and ultimately work as a Medical Assistant with patients in hospitals, clinics, physician's offices, and other healthcare facilities. This program contains two additional courses specifically designed to prepare you with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform blood draws, collect and handle blood and non-blood specimens as a phlebotomist, and administer EKGs and other diagnostic tests, while maintaining a safe clinical environment, as an electrocardiographer.

Knowledge of front office skills like scheduling, verifying patient and insurance info will make you an asset in any healthcare environment, all of which you’ll learn in the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) course.
Once you’ve completed this well-rounded 36-week program, you’ll be prepared with the knowledge for 4 certification exams. The Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam, the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam, the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), and the Certified EKG Technician (CET) certifications, all of which are sponsored by the NHA. The EKG and CPT certifications call for additional clinical requirements – 30 successful venipunctures and 10 capillary sticks necessary for Phlebotomy certification, and 10 EKG readings required for the EKG certification – which can be completed once hired as a Medical Assistant.
